E Jacquet        "On Aug 6, 1942 at Horn Island Harl Pease had mechanical problems with his airplane. As Operations Officer Harl knew this was a very important "Max Effort" mission. He returned to Mareeba. I and others flew to Port Moresby to purposely arrive late in the day (avoid Jap raids) and the air crews had to load the bombs that evening.

At Mareeba Harl selected the only available "in commission" aircraft and flew to Port Morseby. It was very late when he arrived and the air crew members were very tired.

The other air crews helped Harl Pease and his crew load their bombs since they were so tired.

Paddy Murphy, RAAF, was my co-pilot on the Aug 7 mission.
